Dhaka, Dec 26 - The Indian government has withdrawn the 14
percent duty imposed on all types of jute and jute goods, clearing
the path for duty-free export to the neighbouring country.
India had imposed 14 percent duty, including 4 percent countervailing
duty on export of Bangladeshi-made jute and jute goods to India, on
Upon a request from Bangladesh, India has withdrawn the duty on jute
and jute goods of 6305 tariff line on February 14 and jute and jute
goods under 5310 and 5705 tariff line on April 20.
Finally, the Indian government has withdrawn the duty from jute and
jute goods of 5307 and 5607 tariff line on December 23 that cleared
the duty-free access of jute and jute goods to India, a commerce
ministry press release said on Monday.
