“The revenue earning during the corresponding period of the previous
fiscal year was Tk 27,035.38 crore,” Chairman of the National Board
of Revenue (NBR) Dr Nasiruddin Ahmed told a press conference on
He said it would be possible to achieve the revenue earning target
set for the current fiscal year if it grows at 15.5 percent.
The NBR chief said the revenue earning target for the July-November
period was Tk 31,213.40 crore.
Dr Nasiruddin said e-payment system for the income tax payers will be
introduced in March next. Sonali Bank Ltd will conduct the trial run.
About the Alternative Dispute Resolution (ADR), he said the system
would be introduced from February next on trial basis for quick
disposal of the cases relating to income tax, customs and VAT.
The NBR chairman hoped that the $ 200 to 300 million funding by the
World Bank for the automation of the tax administration system would
be available within this fiscal year. “A World Bank delegation will
arrive in Dhaka soon to assist us.”
The revenue earning target for the current fiscal is Tk 91,870 crore
of which Tk 27,561 crore is supposed to come from income tax, while
Tk 32,862 crore from VAT, Tk 30,776 crore from import duty and Tk 671
crore from travel tax and others sources.
